Coming Soon:
A Soundtrack for the Skolian Empire
The next book in the Skolian Empire series, Diamond Star focuses on Del Skolia, a renegade member of the Ruby Dynasty who becomes a
successful rock star on Earth -- much to the alarm of his conservative and powerful royal family.
Against his wishes, Del is turned into an important pawn in the war between the Skolian and Trader
Empires.
Diamond Star will be accompanied by a musical release.
A Baltimore rock band, Point Valid, is cutting a CD with me using the lyrics I wrote for the book. The
music and arrangements have been developed by the band's lead singer, Hayim Ani, based on some music I created while writing the story. We expect the CD to be released as part of the promotion for
the book sometime in the coming year. I'm slated to sing a couple of things on it (if I don't lose my
nerve :-)).
You can listen to "Carnelians," a song from the book (and CD) by clicking the link here. And you can hear this song and others live at Balticon 42 over Memorial Day weekend. Right now, we're tentatively scheduled to host a Rock 'n Roll Science Fiction panel on Sunday, May 25 from 9-10:30, possibly followed by a concert and party. Details will be coming soon!

My novella "The Spacetime Pool," is on newsstands in the March issue of Analog Science Fiction and Fact magazine. The editor describes it as a "unique blend of colorful setting, engaging and memorable characters, mathematics, romance, and science fiction." While it is an adventure tale, I had a lot of fun with the math and plan to write an article about the mathematical principles behind the story.

"Catherine Asaro does a bang-up job.
The story entertains, surprises, and moves
at a good pace...I suspect you'll get a kick
out of this one."
